{"id":65155,"date":"2009-11-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-12T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-concludes-darwin-anniversary-lecture-series\/"},"modified":"2009-11-12T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-11-12T00:00:00","slug":"uri-concludes-darwin-anniversary-lecture-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2009\/11\/uri-concludes-darwin-anniversary-lecture-series\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 concludes Darwin anniversary lecture series"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 November 12, 2009 \u2013 As part of the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s continuing celebration of the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin\u2019s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his On the Origin of Species, Rutgers University Professor Debashish Bhattacharya will present a lecture on Nov. 16 entitled \u201cGenomic Approaches to Understanding Red Tide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the Thomas M. Ryan Family Auditorium in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences at 7:30 p.m. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBhattacharya is a professor of ecology, evolution and natural resources who studies the evolution and genomics of algae.   He was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2007 and awarded the Darbaker Prize from the Botanical Society of America in 2008 for his contributions to an international tree of life project.  Prior to joining the faculty of Rutgers University in 2008, Bhattacharya was associate professor of biological sciences at Iowa State University, where he also served as director of its interdisciplinary doctoral program in genetics.  He also holds an adjunct scientist position at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe lecture series is sponsored by the University\u2019s Alexander M.
