The talk is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tGreenhouse is the labor and workplace correspondent for The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe book is described as a fresh, probing look at the stresses and strains faced by millions of American workers as wages stagnate, health and pension benefits grow stingier and job security has shriveled.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tGoing behind the scenes, Greenhouse tells stories of software engineers in Seattle, hotel housekeepers in Chicago, call center workers in New York and janitors in Houston.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe book explains how economic, business, political and social trends \u2013 among them globalization, the influx of immigrants and the Wal-Mart effect\u2014have fueled the squeeze.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe New York Review of Books called the book \u201cexcellent and relentless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tGreenhouse\u2019s lecture is presented by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Schmidt Labor Research Center and 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Honors\u2019 Program.
