\n\t\tThe true cost of higher education was one of the topics President David M. Dooley addressed at a recent open meeting with the campus community. He discussed issues that are fundamental to the work of the university, the future of students and the economic well being of the State of Rhode Island and the nation before a group of about 200 faculty and staff members.<\/p>\n


\nPresident Dooley drew attention to the per-student costs of higher education, the effects of declining state contributions, mounting student debt, and common misperceptions about the overall funding structure in place for higher education. He also spoke about the importance of partnerships and internships to prepare students for the competitive job market and the overall “value” of a college degree — and specifically earning a degree from the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾.<\/p>\n
