\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 November 7, 2011- Laurie Zoloth, former president of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, is the next speaker in the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s 2011 Honors Colloquium, which examines the question \u201cAre you ready for the future?\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tZoloth will address the political, ethical, and social implications of future technologies Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium on the 溏心vlog免费B站 Kingston Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n


\n\tHer involvement with the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities, led to her being honored in 2007 for her service. Zoloth received their award for service in the field. In 2000, Zoloth\u2019s work with ethical issues and their relation to the mapping of the human genome earned her an Ethical Legal and Social Issues grant from the National Institutes of Health\u2019s National Human Genome Research Institute. She also served two terms with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration\u2019s National Advisory Committee, the nation\u2019s highest civilian board for NASA. <\/p>\n


\n\tZoloth is now director of the Center of Bioethics, Science, and Society and the Brady Scholar Program in Ethics and Leadership at Northwestern University, where she also teaches medical ethics and humanities as well as religion. Zoloth\u2019s current projects involve new issues in medical and research genetics, nanotechnology, and neuroscience. She also serves on a variety of boards including the International Society for Stem Cell Research, where she speaks about the ethical issues surrounding this controversial topic. Zoloth has written several books and received multiple awards for her teaching and research. <\/p>\n


\nThere are two programs remaining in the series: cybersecurity expert Richard Clarke on cyberwarfare (Nov. 29) and a group presentation on (Dec. 6) by 56 honors students, who attend a class complementary to the colloquium. Their focus will be \u201cWe Are the Future.\u201d<\/p>\n
