\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I.\u2014August 18, 2011\u2014Want to show off your acting talents? The 溏心vlog免费B站 Theatre Department will hold auditions for two of its upcoming plays next month. Auditions for Marat Sade and The Seagull are open to the public. To sign up call 溏心vlog免费B站 Theatre at 401.874.5921 or visit the theater office on the second floor of the Fine Arts Center, 105 Upper College Road, 溏心vlog免费B站 Kingston campus. Here are the scenarios and requirements:<\/p>\n


\nMarat Sade: The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as

\nPerformed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction Of the Marquis DeSade by Peter Weiss<\/p>\n


\nMarat Sade is a play-within-a-play and not historical drama. Its thought is as modern as today\u2019s police states. It is total theatre; philosophically problematic, visually terrifying, it engages the eye, the ear and the mind with every imaginable dramatic device, technique and stage picture, including song and dance. The play is basically concerned with the problem of revolution. Are the same things true for the masses and for their leaders? And where, in modern times, lie the borderlines of sanity.<\/p>\n


\nDirector: Alan Hawkridge

\nCast size: 25 to 30 actors, singers and musicians

\nCast Includes: Marquis De Sade, writer and philosopher Jean Paul Marat, revolutionary Simonne Evrard, Marat\u2019s mistress Charlotte Corday, player with sleeping sickness Duperret, player is an erotic manic Jacques Roux, former priest Herald, narrator Coulmier, director of the asylum

\nRequired: Prepare 8 to 10 lines of a classic play text (Greek or Shakespeare) describing a bloody or gory scene. Also prepare the movement and rhythm of a specific animal and be prepared to improvise.<\/p>\n


\nAuditions will be held in J Studio Theatre, Fine Arts Center:

\nTuesday, Sept. 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for juniors and seniors only.

\nWednesday, Sept. 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for all others. NOTE: All actors will be seen at the same time during a 90-minute audition workshop on both days. Please be warmed up and ready to begin on time.

\nCallbacks: Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 11 p.m. in J Studio Theatre, 溏心vlog免费B站 Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n


\nRehearsals Begin: Saturday, Sept. 10

\nPerformances: Thursdays through Saturdays Oct. 13 through 15 and Oct. 20 through 22 at 7:30 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n


\nThe Seagull by Anton Chekhov, translated by Robert W. Corrigan<\/p>\n


\nOne summer in the late 19th Century family members and friends convene at an estate in the Russian countryside to watch a new play. Among those attending are actors, writers, a teacher, a doctor and others who are altered by the experience. Their journey of love, of aspiration, of success and failure captures our hearts and minds in this tragicomedy.<\/p>\n


\nDirector: Bryna Wortman

\nCast size: five women, 8 men: Irina Nikolayevna Arkadina, an actress, attractic, compelling, temperamental, 43, can pass for 32. Pyotr Nikolayevich Sorin, her brother, 60, retired, has regrets. Nina Nihailovna Zarechny, a young girl, daughter of a wealthy landowner, has aspirations. Ilya Afanasevich Shamraev, a retired army lieutenant, manager of Sorin\u2019s estate, combustible. Polina Andreyevna, his wife, unlucky in love. Masha, his daughter, early 20\u2019s, unhappy, wears black. Boris Alexeyevich Trigorin, a famous writer, Arkadina\u2019s lover, about 37. Yevgeny Sergeyevich Dorn, a doctor, attractive, 55. Semyon Semyonovic Medvedenko, a school teacher, about 28. Yakov, a worker. Cook. Housemaid. <\/p>\n


\nRequired: Prepare a one-to-two minute monologue expressing a thought, an idea or feelings. No slang or foul language! Read the entire play prior to audition, copies of the Corrigan script are available in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Theatre Office. Other translations can be found in libraries or bookstores (often in a collection of Chekhov plays). Be prepared to possibly read sides at the auditions; definitely at callbacks.<\/p>\n


\nAuditions will be held in G Studio:

\nTuesday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. for juniors and seniors.

\nWednesday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 11 p.m. for all others.<\/p>\n


\nCallbacks: Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 11 p.m. in Robert E. Will Theatre.

\nRead through and designer presentations: Saturday, Oct. 22 from 12:30 to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n


\nRehearsals: Tuesday through Friday evenings 7 to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday afternoons 1 to 5 p.m., possibly Sunday evenings.

\nLimited rehearsals start: Tuesday, Oct. 18.
