The University\u2019s annual Ocean State Summer Writing Conference will help break down those writing roadblocks and help you map out where you want to go and how you can get there. Jennifer Egan, novelist, journalist and author of this year\u2019s Pulitzer Prize for fiction for her book <i>A Visit from the Goon Squad<\/i>, is one of the keynote speakers. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cIf you\u2019re only planning to attend one writing conference this year, choose this one,\u201d says prize-winning poet Peter Covino in the University\u2019s English Department who directs the conference. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Stone.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"147\" align=\"right\"\/>\tThe conference features workshops in fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. Master classes, craft seminars, sessions on \u201cThe Writing Life\u201d and publishing are part of the mix. One-on-one consultation and manuscript evaluation will also be available.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe conference has varied costs for its offerings. However, the keynote presentations, free and open to the public, will combine talk and readings, with time for questions and answers. All presentations will be given in Swan Hall Auditorium, 60 Upper College Road, 溏心vlog免费B站 Kingston Campus.\t<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tIn addition to Egan, Robert Stone, a National Book Award-winning author of seven novels, including A Hall of Mirrors, Dog Soldiers, A Flag for Sunrise, Children of Light, Outerbridge Reach, Damascus Gate, Bay of Souls, and last year\u2019s story collection, Fun with Problems, is also a keynote speaker. <br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/salamun.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"133\" align=\"right\"\/><br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\tTomaz Salamun, considered Slovenia&#8217;s greatest living poet, will also be a keynote speaker. He is the author of 37 books. His work has been translated into 19 languages. Blue Tower, his latest, is due out this year.\t<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cOur conference continues to have a non-threatening and easygoing, accessible energy,\u201d says Covino. \u201cWriting and publishing books is important, of course, but creating a community to sustain your work and read your books is even more crucial.
