\nCrimes of the Heart

\n溏心vlog免费B站 the Show: Beth Henley\u2019s very funny, touching Crimes of the Heart won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critic\u2019s Circle Award. The play takes place in Mississippi where three sisters must \u201clearn how to get through these real bad days.\u201d It involves Lenny, the eldest sister, who is about to hit 30, Meg in the middle who is home from an unsuccessful try at a singing career and Babe, the youngest, who just shot her husband, must overcome the legacy of self-destruction stemming from their mother\u2019s earlier suicide. With the help of the men who love them and their own better natures, the sisters reunite with love in this always quirky, unpredictable comedy.<\/p>\n


\nAuditions

\nTuesday, Dec 3 (juniors, seniors and community), 6-11 p.m. , G Studio

\nWednesday, Dec 4 (all others), 6-11 p.m., Robert E. Will Theatre

\nPlease arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition to complete paperwork.<\/p>\n


\nRequired: Prepare a two-minute monologue. It can be a comedic or dramatic monologue that conveys the truth of an event. Do not audition with material containing foul language. Please read the entire play prior to your audition. A copy is available in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Theatre Office. Be prepared to read sides at auditions and callbacks.<\/p>\n

\nCharacters:

\nLenny Magrath is a withdrawn, 30 yr old woman and is the oldest of the McGrath sisters and she carries most of the responsibility.

\nMeg Magrath: At 27 yrs of age she is the middle sister with an unsuccessful singing career.

\nBabe Botrelle: Youngest Magrath sister, age 24, suicidal, shot her husband

\nChick Boyle: The Magrath\u2019s 29 year-old, demanding cousin, who cares deeply about everyone\u2019s opinion of her.

\nDoc Porter: Meg\u2019s 30 year-old ex-boyfriend who remains a family friend and was badly injured in Hurricane Camille

\nBarnette Lloyde: Babe\u2019s 26 year-old lawyer who has a strong attraction for her<\/p>\n


\nRehearsals: Scheduled from 6-11 p.m. weekdays, 1-5 p.m. , weekends.

\nPerformances: Feb 20-22 & Feb 27-Mar 1, 2014, 7:30 p.m.

\nAuditions for dancing and singing: Sign-up in the Robert E. Will Theatre Lobby the night of each audition. All auditions will be held in G Studio.<\/p>\n


\nDance Auditions – Dec. 4, 6 p.m. Those auditioning will sign up in groups of ten for 30-minute slots. Everyone must dance sometime this evening.<\/p>\n


\nSinging Auditions – Dec. 5 and 6, 7.30 p.m. – Vocal auditions are on a first-come, first-called basis. Sign-up list determines order for auditions. Actor(s) who have been called-back for Crimes of the Heart on Dec. 5 may audition for vocals on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. <\/p>\n


\nRequired: Prepare 32 bars of two contrasting songs. One should be similar in style to Kander and Ebb\u2019s style for Chicago. Bring sheet music in the right key. No transposing on site. No singing a cappella. <\/p>\n


\nCome ready to move for your dance audition. Both men and women should be in form-fitting clothing and character shoes. Ladies, wear 2\u00bc-inch heels minimum. <\/p>\n


\nCallbacks: December 7, 1:30 P.M. <\/p>\n


\nCharacters:

\nRoxy Hart: female, 20-30, mezzo-soprano, a wannabe vaudevillian that kills her lover and gets sent to jail.

\nVelma Kelly: female, 25-40, alto, a vaudevillian and murderess who is on trial for killing her husband

\nWilliam \u201cBilly\u201d Flynn: male, 35-50, baritone, lawyer who represents both Velma and Roxy

\nAmos Hart: male, 30-50, baritone, Roxy\u2019s loving, faithful husband who she ignores

\nMatron \u201cMama\u201d Morton: female, 30-50, alto, Matron of the prison that holds both Roxy and Velma

\nMary Sunshine: 25-55, soprano or tenor, reporter following Roxy and Velma\u2019s trials

\nEnsemble: 12-20 singers and dancers.<\/p>\n


\nRehearsals will begin in late-February.
