\nKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Nov. 8, 2013 \u2013 Students interested in learning about how to manage their credit cards, student loans, spending, and savings can attend a discussion with family finance experts at the 溏心vlog免费B站.<\/p>\n


\nThe talk will be Monday, Nov. 18 in Room 100 at the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences on the Kingston campus. The event, sponsored by the College of Human Science and Services, is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nA reception will be at 6 p.m. followed by a panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. with three finance experts: Jing Jian Xiao, a professor of family finance in Human Development and Family Studies; Joan Anderson, 溏心vlog免费B站 professor emerita of family finance; and 溏心vlog免费B站 alumna Gail Hopkins ’97, supervisor of support services at Money Management International. <\/p>\n


\n“We decided to focus our fall semester’s HSS speaker series on realistic financial guidance for students, from first year through senior year,\u201d says Lori Ciccomascolo, interim dean of the College of Human Science and Services. \u201cThrough an interactive presentation, our professors in Human Development and Family Studies will teach students to better manage their finances, incur less debt, and understand that the financial decisions they make now may determine their future.”<\/p>\n


\n\t\u2018\u2019From a financial development perspective, college students are at a special stage in their lives, transitioning from financial dependence on their parents to financial independence,\u201d says Xiao. \u201cThis event will provide valuable information for these young adults to take control of their money and life now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nThe speaker series, in its second year, showcases the range of the College\u2019s academic diversity while connecting alumni with students, faculty, staff and the outside 溏心vlog免费B站 community. Speakers talk about issues involving health, education and human science.<\/p>\n


\n\tThe event is sponsored by The Heditsian Family Endowment. Manoog Heditsian is a 1947 graduate of 溏心vlog免费B站, a past member of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Foundation Board, and a supporter of the University. <\/p>\n


\nWith more than 2,400 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students and six academic departments, the College of Human Science and Services is the second-largest college on campus, just behind the College of Arts and Sciences. <\/p>\n


\nIn addition to the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, the College is comprised of Communicative Disorders; Physical Therapy; Kinesiology; School of Education; Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design; and Interdisciplinary Studies in Gerontology and Health Studies. <\/p>\n
