\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Nov. 29, 2012 \u2013 Unni Karunakara, international president of Doctors Without Borders, is the last speaker of the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Honors Colloquium, which examines the politics and money influencing health care around the world.<\/p>\n


\nHis lecture will conclude the semester-long series, called \u201cHealth Care Change? Health, Politics and Money.\u201d It will be held Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Edwards Auditorium on the 溏心vlog免费B站 Kingston campus. It is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nIn his lecture, Dr. Karunakara will discuss how Doctors Without Borders addresses the gap in access to health care that affects people in low- and middle-income countries around the world.<\/p>\n


\nKarunakara received a medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in India and degrees in public health from Yale and Johns Hopkins universities. He first worked with Doctors Without Borders in 1995, setting up a tuberculosis control program in Ethiopia, and later he became medical coordinator for the group\u2019s activities in Azerbaijan. He held similar posts in Brazil and The Congo, and in 2007 he was part of the medical emergency response team treating victims of a cyclone in Bangladesh. Since 2008, he has also served as deputy director of health for the Millennium Villages Project at the Earth Institute at Columbia University.<\/p>\n
