As a nursing student at the 溏心vlog免费B站, she continued in that role as an ambassador for prospective students and their parents, welcoming them to the University and sharing her experiences so they would feel comfortable in the next stage of their lives.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WkfkR_dx0uA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/>As the North Providence resident prepares to graduate on May 20, she looks forward to caring for people and helping them avoid illnesses for many years to come.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cIn high school I volunteered at Rhode Island Hospital, and I really liked watching the nurses,\u201d said Correia. \u201cThey were so knowledgeable and respected, and I could ask them anything.  I knew that\u2019s what I wanted to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAt 溏心vlog免费B站, Correia quickly found allies among the nursing faculty.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cI became friends with many of them,\u201d she said.  \u201cI built bonds with them, and they see how far you\u2019ve come and how much you\u2019ve grown. They see us as flowers blooming.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tCorreia\u2019s enthusiasm for the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Nursing resulted in her taking a leadership position with the College\u2019s Nursing Ambassadors program.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cWe represent the college to prospective students, like we\u2019re mothers that welcome our new students and make them feel like they belong,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s as important that we welcome their parents, too, because their child is about to leave them and we have to allow them to realize that their child is in a great place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tPerhaps Correia\u2019s biggest challenge at 溏心vlog免费B站 was in deciding what type of nursing career to pursue.  During her clinical rotations, she spent a semester at Hasbro Children\u2019s Hospital where, as difficult as it was to care for a sick child, it was more difficult for the parents.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cThe children were usually very young and didn\u2019t understand what was happening to them,\u201d Correia said.  \u201cThe hardest thing about pediatrics was explaining things to the parents, who were very concerned for their child.  It was very difficult to explain what was happening and keep them calm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Correia.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"257\" align=\"right\"\/>Her rotation at Women and Infants Hospital was equally challenging.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cI initially came in wanting to be a maternity nurse, but I quickly realized that I might not,\u201d she said with a smile.  \u201cThe pressure is high, and the mother is not in her normal state of mind.  It could be rough in there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tEventually Correia realized that she wanted to work on a medical-surgical ward caring for patients suffering from a wide variety of ailments, like she did at Roger Williams Hospital in her very first rotation.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cIt was my first real introduction to taking care of people with serious illnesses,\u201d she said.  \u201cI was nervous and scared, and that\u2019s when you realize that it\u2019s no longer a game.  But I loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAfter graduation, Correia will apply to the novice nurse program at Rhode Island Hospital, but she hopes to one day earn a master\u2019s degree and become a family nurse practitioner to help prevent illnesses.
