\n\tThe free, public lecture by Warner, to be held in Edwards Hall, 64 Upper College Road, on the Kingston campus, is part of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s 2014 Honors Colloquium, \u201cCybersecurity & Privacy.\u201d <\/p>\n


\nWarner is also chief technologist and co-founder for Malcovery Security.<\/p>\n

\n\tGarner\u2019s talk titled, \u201cMalware Threat Intelligence,\u201d will explain some implications of treating each malware sample as a stand-alone issue and will offer some alternatives on how to respond to malware, how to investigate it and how to research solutions in malware-fighting technologies.<\/p>\n


\n\tWarner will also address the following:<\/p>\n


\n\u2022\tHow should an incident responder address the presence of a malicious file? Should the responder delete the malware and move on? Or format and reinstall the computer? Or notify the Pentagon?<\/p>\n


\n\u2022\tHow should a corporation possessing personally identifiable information and sensitive intellectual property respond? Has the malware enabled a data breach? Does the corporation need to alert customers? Or will the malware merely send out spam messages advertising fake Viagra?<\/p>\n


\n\u2022\tHow should a law enforcement officer respond to the malware? Is it a single occurrence of a rare Trojan horse written by a high school student? Or is this one instance of a multi-million-node botnet that has stolen $100 million?<\/p>\n


\n\tWarner has received awards for his contributions to fighting digital crime from Microsoft, the FBI, the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance, BankInfo Security, and the Messaging Malware Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group.<\/p>\n


\n\tSince beginning his technology career, Warner has taken a pragmatic approach to online security and brought a commitment to protecting the Internet by fighting viruses. <\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cOur field is putting users all over the world at risk and it\u2019s my responsibility as a computer guy to make sure the tools we made aren\u2019t harming people,\u201d said Warner. <\/p>\n
