{"id":59432,"date":"2014-10-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-providence-campus-to-host-public-seminar-on-ebola-oct-16\/"},"modified":"2014-10-08T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-10-08T00:00:00","slug":"uri-providence-campus-to-host-public-seminar-on-ebola-oct-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2014\/10\/uri-providence-campus-to-host-public-seminar-on-ebola-oct-16\/","title":{"rendered":"溏心vlog免费B站 Providence campus to host public seminar on Ebola, Oct. 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tDept. of Health officials to discuss epidemic, treatment, prevention<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tPROVIDENCE, R.I. \u2013 October 8, 2014 \u2013 The 溏心vlog免费B站 will host a public seminar about the Ebola virus and its Rhode Island connection on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Paff Auditorium at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Providence campus, 80 Washington St., Providence.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSpeakers will be Dr. Michael Fine, director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, who will provide an overview of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa and implications for Rhode Island; Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, consultant medical director in the Department of Health\u2019s Office of HIV\/AIDS, who will discuss the virology, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Ebola; and Elaine Parker-Williams, a Liberian doctoral student in the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Nursing, who will outline how to prevent the spread of Ebola and discuss how to assist the Liberian relief effort.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThose attending the event are encouraged to bring donations of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes or latex gloves that will be sent to Liberia by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Liberian student community.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe seminar is sponsored by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Alan Shawn Feinstein College of Continuing Education, the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, the Africana Studies Program and the Graduate Professional Center.
