\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Aug. 27, 2014 \u2013 Is clothing manufacturing returning to the United States? What’s the \u201cglobal journey\u201d of a cotton T-shirt before it reaches a retail store?<\/p>\n


\nThose questions and more will be answered during a daylong conference at the 溏心vlog免费B站 hosted by the Department of Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design.<\/p>\n


\nThe \u201c溏心vlog免费B站 Cotton Summit: the 21st Century Global Apparel Value Chain and Implications for U.S. Cotton in the World Marketplace\u201d Sept. 22 in the Memorial Union Ballroom on the Kingston campus is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nSheng Lu, a professor in the textiles department, came up with the idea for the conference to raise public awareness about the importance of the cotton, textile and apparel industry in the 21st century global economy.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cIt is very exciting that so many well-known experts in the textile and apparel field will gather at 溏心vlog免费B站 for the Cotton Summit,\u201d Lu says. \u201cThe event will be a wonderful learning opportunity for our students, encouraging them to think globally, have a big picture vision in mind and care about what is going on in the real world.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nAmong the topics for discussion are: What\u2019s the best U.S. trade policy to promote the export of American cotton, textile and apparel products? Is textile and apparel manufacturing coming back to the United States? Why is \u201cMade in China\u201d gradually replaced by \u201cMade for China,\u201d and what does the change mean for American fashion companies?<\/p>\n
