\n\t\tThree artists to exhibit 30 works of ocean-themed fine art<\/p>\n

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. \u2013 May 19, 2014 \u2013 The 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Graduate School of Oceanography is hosting its first \u201cGallery Night at Studio Blue,\u201d to raise funds for fellowships for oceanography graduate students. The event will feature 30 works of ocean-themed fine art by three notable New England artists: Michael Coyne, Kate Huntington and Dora Atwater Millikin.<\/p>\n


\n\tA virtual exhibition will take place online from May 26 to June 20 at Gallery<\/a>. The works will be on display at the GSO\u2019s \u201cStudio Blue\u201d in the Coastal Institute building on the 溏心vlog免费B站 Narragansett Bay Campus on Thursday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday June 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A \u201cReception with the Artists\u201d, for which a RSVP is required, will be held during the exhibit hours on June 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese works all draw upon a depiction of the realistic and enhanced marine environment that the faculty, staff and students at the Graduate School of Oceanography strive to promote on a daily basis through their education and outreach endeavors,\u201d said Sara Hickox, director of the GSO Office of Marine Programs and organizer of the exhibit. \u201cThis is a tribute to Rhode Island first and foremost.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nJudith Swift, director of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Coastal Institute, which is co-hosting the event said, \u201cThis is the first professional benefit and exhibition in our Studio Blue gallery, and we have high hopes for raising funds for fellowships to support students at the Graduate School of Oceanography. We encourage anyone interested in acquiring a work of art that reflects Rhode Island\u2019s long tradition of celebrating Narragansett Bay and the ocean to explore the gallery of available paintings on the event website and visit Studio Blue from June 5-7 to view the paintings on display.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tMichael Coyne\u2019s seascapes and landscapes depict the rocky shorelines and salt marshes of the South Shore of Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Working in a representational style, he creates studies and observations to support large works in the studio. His works can be found in numerous public, private and corporate collections.<\/p>\n

Providence native Kate Huntington attended the Rhode Island School of Design and has been working continuously as a painter since 1976. Her works have been exhibited in many New England galleries and museums and featured in several distinguished books. In 2007, a dozen of her paintings were featured in scenes of the award-winning Showtime television drama Brotherhood.<\/p>\n


\n\tInfluenced by early American Modernism, Dora Atwater Millikin\u2019s subject of coastal New England scenery has an emphasis on the gritty, seldom-observed aspects of the landscape. A native of Little Compton with a studio in Westport, Massachusetts, she has received numerous awards and prizes in juried exhibitions around the region.<\/p>\n
