  {"id":58924,"date":"2014-04-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/become-a-part-of-uris-green-team-program\/"},"modified":"2014-04-21T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-04-21T00:00:00","slug":"become-a-part-of-uris-green-team-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2014\/04\/become-a-part-of-uris-green-team-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Become a part of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Green Team program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tSmall steps help lessen 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s impact on environment<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 APRIL 21, 2014 \u2013 You want a better environment, but sometimes you feel helpless when oil spills mar our oceans or smog clouds our skies.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tBut if you are part of the 溏心vlog免费B站, you can participate in a program that encourages small steps that can make a big difference\u2014the Green Team Program.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tIt began two years ago when a campus community member sought out the Office of Sustainability to help her office become less wasteful and more conscious of paper and electricity use.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tMarsha Garcia, the campus sustainability officer, said that as the world celebrates Earth Day Tuesday, it\u2019s a good time to remind 溏心vlog免费B站 faculty and staff of the program.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cAny office, division or department can designate a green ambassador who encourages colleagues to make changes in their day-to-day operations,\u201d Garcia said.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cThe goal is to get your team to pledge to do better by printing less, or printing on both sides of the paper, shutting off computers or putting them in sleep mode when you are not in the office and eliminating bottled water,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t Garcia said her office can help by providing reminder stickers and posters.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cOnce you have a majority of your colleagues on your team, you can seek certification,\u201d she said. \u201cOur office comes out and conducts an audit to review how you are doing, and depending on how many points you earn on a rating system, you could be presented with a certificate signed by President (David M.) Dooley.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSo far, there are six active Green Teams across campus, but only two offices of the University are certified, the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) at the Graduate School of Oceanography, and the Campus Planning &amp; Design\/Business Services office. Garcia said the rate of participation should be much higher, and that becoming more sustainable is really just a matter of taking some simple steps and sticking with them.
