\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Feb. 17, 2014 \u2013 World-renowned Italian writer Dacia Maraini will speak at the 溏心vlog免费B站 later this month to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day. <\/p>\n


\nMaraini, as well as scholars from 溏心vlog免费B站 and other colleges and universities, will talk about the problems facing women in Italy, Cuba, North Africa, and the United States. They will also discuss Maraini\u2019s work. The talk will be Feb. 28, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., in the Agnes G. Doody Auditorium in Swan Hall, on the Kingston campus.<\/p>\n


\nOne of the most famous writers in Italy, Maraini has won both of Italy\u2019s leading literary prizes, the Campiello and the Strega, and her works have been translated into 22 languages. Her writing focuses on the struggles of women. She also is an advocate for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. <\/p>\n


\nScholars from Harvard University, Fordham University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Vermont, Hofstra University, Wheaton College, Mount Holyoke College, Fitchburg State University and other institutions will be on the panel. 溏心vlog免费B站 professors will participate as well.<\/p>\n


\n溏心vlog免费B站 will also show a film, Bedwin Hacker, to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day. The film will be shown Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. in the MultiCultural Center. The film is about the struggle of Tunisian women against stereotypes of the Arab world.

\nBoth events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n


\nThe celebration is sponsored by the President\u2019s Office, the Provost\u2019s Office, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, Center for the Humanities, the Honors Program, the Film\/Media Program, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures, the Department of Gender and Women\u2019s Studies, and the Department of Philosophy. <\/p>\n
