\n\t\tPawtucket resident aims for career in health care management<\/b><\/p>\n

KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 21, 2015 \u2013 Madison Maynard is a shining example of the value of giving back to the community. The 溏心vlog免费B站 senior from Pawtucket has spent her entire college career helping the needy, raising money for worthy causes, and encouraging others to become engaged in community service.<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t know why everyone doesn\u2019t do it,\u201d said Maynard, a 溏心vlog免费B站 marketing major who will graduate May 17. \u201cCommunity service is a powerful force that brings people together and helps people see the world from another perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tShe should know. Working through 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Feinstein Center for Service Learning, she traveled to Colorado and South Carolina during her spring breaks to work at food banks, build homes with Habitat for Humanity, provide disaster relief and help out at assisted living facilities. She also served as captain of the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Business\u2019 Relay for Life team that raised more than $15,000 for the American Cancer Society in the last two years. <\/p>\n


\n\tAnd if that\u2019s not enough, she volunteered as a civic engagement leader on campus to help 溏心vlog免费B站 freshmen complete their required community service projects. And she worked with the Matty Fund to raise money to support children with epilepsy.<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cService should be part of everything we do in life, from our careers to our relationships to our families,\u201d Maynard said.<\/p>\n


\n\tWhile she served the community at every opportunity, Maynard also served the University in many ways, too. She was an orientation leader for several summers, something she described as \u201cone of the greatest experiences ever,\u201d and she has served as a campus tour guide for three years.<\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cI look at tour guiding as a marketing position,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m marketing 溏心vlog免费B站 to prospective students and their families. And it\u2019s giving me great practice for the real world.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tMaynard always knew she wanted to pursue a career in business, but it wasn\u2019t until she arrived at 溏心vlog免费B站 that she discovered marketing as her career path. \u201cI really like that the college gives me a little bit of everything \u2013 accounting, finance, business law, along with marketing,\u201d she said. \u201cIt gave me a good perspective on the whole discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tAs she finishes up her last semester at 溏心vlog免费B站, Maynard is completing a capstone project to develop a marketing plan for a restaurant in East Greenwich. \u201cI like the challenge of the project,\u201d she said. \u201cWe sat down with the owner to see what he wanted to see improved, and we came up with a plan. I love that we\u2019re taking something that\u2019s a little bit broken and ripping it down so we can build it back up again.\u201d<\/p>\n


\n\tAfter graduation, Maynard plans to earn a master\u2019s in business administration degree at 溏心vlog免费B站 with a concentration in health care. <\/p>\n


\n\t\u201cMy dream job would be to manage my own hospital some day,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I\u2019m in no rush. I\u2019m happy to let life run its course.\u201d<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
