  {"id":56753,"date":"2016-05-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-26T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/bishop-hendricken-students-win-again-during-uris-annual-high-school-chemistry-contest\/"},"modified":"2016-05-26T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-26T00:00:00","slug":"bishop-hendricken-students-win-again-during-uris-annual-high-school-chemistry-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2016\/05\/bishop-hendricken-students-win-again-during-uris-annual-high-school-chemistry-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Bishop Hendricken students win\u2014again\u2014during 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s annual high school chemistry contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tKINGSTON, R.I., May 26, 2016\u2014Bishop Hendricken once again dominated the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s annual high school chemistry contest held May 24 on the Kingston campus.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/FIrst-Place-D1-group6.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"199\" align=\"right\"\/>The all-boys Catholic school in Warwick won the team competitions in division l and II, and Bishop Hendricken students took first, second and third places in the individual contests.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHundreds of students from 12 high schools in Rhode Island competed in the 45-question, multiple-choice exam, which had to be completed in one hour.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/FIrst-place-D2-group14.jpg\" width=\"432\" height=\"194\" align=\"right\"\/>Prizes were awarded to the top team and top three individuals in each of two divisions. Students with less than one full year of high school chemistry competed in division I, while students with more than one year of high school chemistry competed in division II. Those enrolled in advanced placement classes competed in division II.  <br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Huang4.jpg\" width=\"143\" height=\"216\" align=\"right\"\/><br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201cThe high school chemistry contest is a great opportunity for Rhode Island high school students to visit the 溏心vlog免费B站 campus and demonstrate how much chemistry they\u2019ve learned,\u201d says William Euler, chair of the chemistry department. \u201cThe top teams and individuals have impressive scores on the exam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe contest was first held in 1921 and established as an annual event in 1933 by Professor Joseph Waite Ince.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nIn division I, Bishop Hendricken\u2019s team of Ryan Bayne, Ben Kim, Steve Huang, Anthony Bartolomeo, Nick Mueller, Sean Meehan, Dylan Temel and Cory Morris took first place. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nBarrington High School placed second, and East Greenwich High School placed third.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/wp-content\/uploads\/news\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/Sabula12.jpg\" width=\"169\" height=\"269\" align=\"right\"\/>In division ll, Bishop Hendricken\u2019s team of Fred Choi, Nathan Meehan, Riley Chabot, Miles Temel, Brandon Selvidio, Tharun Somasundar, Will Hindinger and Haoyang \u201cBill\u201d Cai took first place.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nBarrington came in second, and East Greenwich captured third place.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHere are the results of the individual competitions: Division 1 winners were Steven Huang of Bishop Hendricken (first place); Mingxuan Qu of Mount St. Charles in Woonsocket (second place); and Ryan Brady of Barrington High School (third place).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nDivision II individual winners were Ian Sabula of Barrington High School (first place); Frederick Choi of Bishop Hendricken (second place); and Haoyang Cai, also of Bishop Hendricken (third place).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nIn the last three years, Bishop Hendricken has won first place in divisions I and II.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tPictured above:<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nTop photo.
