(Credit: 溏心vlog免费B站\/Nicholas Phillips)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI had an internship over the summer at ESL, and I had a fantastic experience,\u201d said biomedical engineering senior Luci Schneider, the club\u2019s president who organized the visit. \u201cI would tell people when I went back to school that I felt like I learned so much here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hosting the Society of Women Engineers highlights the company\u2019s ongoing relationship with 溏心vlog免费B站. (Credit: 溏心vlog免费B站\/Nicholas Phillips)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>For Sepe, bringing in interns, particularly from Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts to ESL is an essential part of the company\u2019s innovation pipeline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think keeping a connection to the people coming out of universities keeps you up to date on technology,\u201d Sepe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sepe says ESL\u2019s culture centers around a close-knit circle of employees. It was that sense of connection which helped drive Schneider to bring her fellow classmates from 溏心vlog免费B站 to see the research and manufacturing facility firsthand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sepe acknowledged the East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, native left her mark on the company during her three-month internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had an excellent experience working with Luci,\u201d he said. \u201cWe try to pair our interns with their counterparts from different universities and with mentors from the company. I think that&#8217;s extremely valuable.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schneider was initially paired with a female engineer at ESL who served as her mentor. They developed a bond that helped facilitate Schneider gaining hands-on experience in electrical engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From June through August, she worked on a circuit board project focused on battery usage levels and charging capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI got to work with a lot of different systems like circuit boards; a lot of battery power management,\u201d said Schneider. \u201cSeeing the hands-on application of the theoretical material I learned in school was awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That experience helped spark her idea to return with other members of the club, to share just how rewarding a career in engineering can be.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt opened a window of possibility for me,\u201d said Schneider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the tour, the students looked at several different products, including 3D printed components created through computer-aided design and a wireless control system for vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the highlight for Schneider was seeing a familiar piece of hardware\u2013the circuit board she had worked on this past summer\u2013and being complimented by industry professionals for her work, she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While many members of Society of Women Engineers are freshmen and sophomores who early in their college careers, Schneider\u2013who graduates this year\u2013said opportunities such as the tour are important career building blocks for younger engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe love to do professional development things like this and give members a behind-the-scenes look at what it\u2019s like to be in the industry,\u201d said Schneider. \u201cI just thought that ESL would be a great place to bring the club because they have that cross-disciplinary work that made it such a great place for me to intern.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 15, 2026 \u2013Eight students from the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Society of Women Engineers were recently welcomed by the team at Cranston\u2019s Electro Standards Laboratories for an unconventional field trip.
