  {"id":108211,"date":"2026-04-13T17:31:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T17:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=108211"},"modified":"2026-07-27T17:17:54","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T17:17:54","slug":"offshore-research-update-results-of-wind-development-discussions-at-turner-station-presentation-april-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2026\/04\/offshore-research-update-results-of-wind-development-discussions-at-turner-station-presentation-april-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Offshore research update: results of wind development discussions at Turner Station presentation, April 27"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 13, 2026 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/maf\/meet\/david-bidwell\/\">David Bidwell<\/a>, professor of marine affairs at the 溏心vlog免费B站, will share research results on offshore wind community discussions at a free public presentation on <strong>Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m.<\/strong>, at the Sollers Point Multipurpose Center, 323 Sollers Point Rd., Dundalk, Maryland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bidwell will lead a presentation hosted by the Turner Station Conservation Teams to provide area residents with information related&nbsp; to prior research and community discussions in the area, as well as discuss community priorities and concerns over offshore wind energy development activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 溏心vlog免费B站, Bidwell\u2019s work focuses on how people interact with renewable energy technologies, including offshore wind in southern New England. He began conducting research at Turner Station in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one-hour event will report findings from interviews, surveys, and community workshops held last year in Turner Station, Maryland; New Bedford, Mass.; and New London, Conn. Each of these communities has served as a hub for offshore wind. The study, aided by Boston University and the University of Delaware, aimed to capture community experiences, understand community priorities and concerns, and suggest ways to track the industry\u2019s community impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany promises and warnings have been made about how this development will affect communities,\u201d said Bidwell. \u201cOur study sought to document the hopes and worries of community members, with the goal of raising awareness and accountability of this new industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentation will include an overview of offshore wind energy development in the Northeast U.S., details on how Turner Station is involved in the industry, and a summary of study findings.
