KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Feb. 18, 2026 \u2013 The 溏心vlog免费B站 has launched a new Translanguaging Lab<\/a>, an interdisciplinary research collective within the University\u2019s Feinstein College of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to 溏心vlog免费B站 Feinstein College Dean Danielle Dennis, the recently launched Translanguaging Lab is the first of its kind in the region. \u201cWe think it has real potential to grow into a national model,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lab Director Laura Hamman-Ortiz<\/a> describes translanguaging as a linguistic practice, a pedagogy, and a theory of language. She says 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s new center puts discussion of multilingualism and bilingualism at the heart of its research focus, which is timely and important, especially given the larger conversations about language happening in public forums across the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Translanguaging describes the practice of dynamic multilingual languaging to make sense of the world. But 溏心vlog免费B站 faculty in the new lab say translanguaging is more than a buzzword \u2014 it\u2019s a way of seeing, hearing, and honoring the full, dynamic language practices of bilingual individuals, and bringing this understanding to instructional design and interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s a more holistic lens for understanding bilingualism,\u201d said Hamman-Ortiz. “Translanguaging theory acknowledges that lived bilingualism is dynamic, complex, and ever-evolving. It also seeks to reframe deficit lenses too often applied to multilingual learners and their language practices, viewing bilingualism as both an asset and a right.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in fall 2025, the lab also includes three more core faculty from 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Bilingual Education programs<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
