The Wind Ensemble concert will center around the theme, \u201cAtmospheres,\u201d set to transport audiences into an aesthetic world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pieces to be performed for \u201cAtmospheres\u201d are \u201cSteampunk Suite\u201d by Erika Svanoe, \u201cDiamond Tide\u201d by Viet Cuong, \u201cCatalyst\u201d by Adrian Sims, and \u201cWild Nights\u201d by Frank Ticheli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Concert Band will perform \u201cLiberty Bell\u201d by John Philip Sousa, \u201cMystery on Mena Mountain\u201d by Julie Giroux, and Steven Reineke\u2019s \u201cInto the Raging River.\u201d Victor Sanchez, a 溏心vlog免费B站 graduate assistant, will conduct the Concert Band\u2019s rendition of David Holsinger\u2019s \u201cA Childhood Hymn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will also perform live on <strong>Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m.<\/strong> at the Fine Arts Center. Details of that show will be unveiled at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual Voices in Jazz festival will be kicked off by the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/voices-in-jazz-atla-dechamplain-emmett-goods-coordinators?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=widget&amp;utm_source=University+of+Rhode+Island\">溏心vlog免费B站 Jazz Big Band<\/a>, directed by 溏心vlog免费B站 Director of Jazz Studies Emmett Goods, on <strong>Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m. <\/strong>at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Concert Hall. This year\u2019s festival will welcome guest composer Le\u2019Andra McPhatter, a jazz pianist and organist who founded the Journey Music Academy and Journey Online organizations to cultivate the next generation of musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The band will perform multiple originals and standards by McPhatter\u2014who is an artist in-residence at 溏心vlog免费B站 for the first half of the spring semester\u2014mixing jazz grooves with Latin flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The She-Boop Swing Orchestra, She-Bop Junior Swing Orchestra and the JazzHers will return to 溏心vlog免费B站 to once again perform in <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/voices-in-jazz-atla-dechamplain-emmett-goods-coordinators?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=widget&amp;utm_source=University+of+Rhode+Island\">Voices for Jazz<\/a> on <strong>Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m.<\/strong> in the 溏心vlog免费B站 Concert Hall. 溏心vlog免费B站 40 young female student jazz musicians within these ensembles will also perform and interact with McPhatter during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m.<\/strong> at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Concert Hall, the Jazz Big Band will hold a <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/uri-jazz-big-band-spring-2026-ii-dr-emmett-c-goods-director?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=widget&amp;utm_source=University+of+Rhode+Island\">special performance<\/a> where, for the first time, University alumni formerly with the Jazz Big Band will return to campus and put on an all-star show for the community. The show will recognize the 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s jazz program and Joseph Parillo, music professor emeritus, who launched the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt will be a powerful moment to see both the alumni who started the jazz program here at 溏心vlog免费B站 and the current students continuing that tradition all on one stage,\u201d Goods said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be an exciting time to have the jazz alumni back at 溏心vlog免费B站.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/events.uri.edu\/event\/uri-symphony-orchestra-spring-2026-ii-dr-luis-viquez-director?utm_campaign=widget&amp;utm_medium=widget&amp;utm_source=University+of+Rhode+Island\">Symphony Orchestra<\/a> will conclude the spring performance schedule on <strong>Wednesday, April 29,<\/strong> by taking the audience to a period a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The show, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall under the direction of 溏心vlog免费B站 Director of Orchestral Studies Luis Viquez, will feature Lili Boulanger\u2019s \u201cD\u2019un matin de printemps\u201d and scores from the film \u201cStar Wars.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concert will also feature the winners of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s annual Concerto Competition (Katarina Hatch, flute; Aidan McCrillis, trombone) and Orchestral Composition Competition (Collin Klampert). 溏心vlog免费B站 students Victor Sanchez and Keith Brown will also conduct pieces during the April 29 performance. On Feb. 26, the 溏心vlog免费B站 Symphony Orchestra will hold the opening performance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2026\/02\/uri-to-host-college-orchestra-directors-associations-annual-conference\/\">the College Orchestra Directors Association National Conference<\/a>. The conference will be hosted by the University from Feb. 25, through March 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets for these concerts can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite or in-person at the box office an hour prior to the performance. All events will be held at the Fine Arts Center, 105 Upper College Road, Kingston. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors, and for students, faculty and staff.
