KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Nov. 20, 2025 \u2013 A mix of worldwide holiday spirit, Christmas classics and some new musical offerings will fill the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Fine Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 6<\/strong>, for the 2025 Holiday Extravaganza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University\u2019s preeminent holiday event will hold two performances on Dec. 6\u2014a 2 p.m. concert<\/a> and a 7 p.m. showing<\/a>. Both concerts will be held in the Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 105 Upper College Road, on the Kingston Campus. Tickets for each show costs $25 for general admission, and $15 for students, senior citizens, and faculty and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual tradition, now in its third year, serves as both a showcase for the entire University\u2019s Department of Music<\/a> and as a fundraiser to support 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s music programming. Seven different ensembles\u2014the 溏心vlog免费B站 Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, Jazz Big Band, University Chorus, Wind Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and In the Pocket Jazz Choir\u2014featuring approximately 150 performers will take the Concert Hall stage to enhance the audience\u2019s holiday spirit, says David Gilliland<\/a>, 溏心vlog免费B站 assistant teaching professor of collaborative piano and Holiday Extravaganza artistic director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s music department performing some holiday classics, including \u201cGod Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen\u201d and \u201cHere Comes Santa Claus,\u201d this year\u2019s concerts will also feature some new musical offerings highlighting various cultures around the globe. Among the new offerings is a selection sung in Arabic by the Concert Choir celebrating the Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00ed Faith entitled \u201cYa Baha\u2019ul Abha,\u201d and \u201cHabarigani Mulana,\u201d an original song composed by 溏心vlog免费B站 Director of Jazz Emmett Goods<\/a> to celebrate Kwanzaa, Gilliland says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have always wanted to showcase different cultures and the way they celebrate the holidays,\u201d Gilliland said. \u201cOur music directors this year have highlighted many different ideologies from across the globe, and offered reflections on what the holidays mean to them. We\u2019ll also have multiple conductors\u2014both student and faculty\u2014showing off their artistry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time, the extravaganza will also feature the 溏心vlog免费B站 Lyric Stage Opera Workshop performing \u201cOur Finest Dreams\u201d from Little Women, <\/em>giving the extravaganza a theatrical component as well.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concerts will once again offer a Christmas \u201cCarol-Along,\u201d allowing the audience to sing signature Christmas classics\u2014such as \u201cJingle Bells,\u201d \u201cSilent Night,\u201d and \u201cJoy to the World\u201d\u2014along with the performing musicians. \u201cI feel it\u2019s important for us to have the audience participate; it makes it fun for them,\u201d Gilliland said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brenton DeBoef<\/a>, interim dean for the 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Arts and Sciences<\/a>, will serve as the extravaganza\u2019s master of ceremonies this year. Graduate students Victor Sanchez, Keith Brown and Ryan Cox will conduct multiple pieces with the Symphony Orchestra during the extravaganza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll cultures love expressions of joy, and music is one of the most effective ways to experience that emotion as a community\u201d 溏心vlog免费B站 music department Chair and Director of Choral Activities Mark Conley said. \u201cWe hope everyone can join us as we share the many ways music brings us together across time, space and cultures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Holiday Extravaganza will highlight most of 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s music ensembles on one stage, each ensemble will also hold individual performances to conclude the fall semester\u2014all but two of them taking place at the Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some members of the Jazz Big Band<\/a>, under the direction of Goods, will rouse the spirit within the Olney Street Baptist Church congregation at 100 Olney St., Providence, with a concert<\/a> on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. <\/strong>Additionally, the full Jazz Big Band will hold its annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Concert on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m.<\/strong>, at Pump House Music Works, 1464 Kingstown Road, South Kingstown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jazz Big Band members will also perform combos<\/a> both on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> and on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/a>, at the 溏心vlog免费B站 Fine Arts Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 溏心vlog免费B站 Concert Band, guided by 溏心vlog免费B站 Director of Bands Brian Cardany<\/a>, will take the stage on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 3:30 p.m.<\/strong> to perform both classic and contemporary pieces<\/a>. Then, trombonist Adam Hanna and trumpeter Gino Villarreal will hold a Brass Christmas Cracker<\/a> as part of the 溏心vlog免费B站 Music Department\u2019s University Artist Series on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m.<\/strong>, the University\u2019s Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Artist\/Teacher in Classical Percussion Kyle Forsthoff<\/a>, will hold a recital<\/a> in both solo and ensemble settings. Later that evening at 7 p.m.<\/strong>, the 溏心vlog免费B站 Student Composers<\/a>, led by coordinator, Professor of Music\/Teacher in Composition and Director of Graduate Studies in Music Eliane Aberdam<\/a>, will hold a concert featuring the latest sounds from the student musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
