KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 Nov. 17, 2025 \u2013 Michael Jagoda \u201991, the 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s assistant vice president of public safety and chief of police, will discuss security during the University\u2019s Forensic Science Seminar Series<\/a> on Friday, Nov. 21 at 3:30 p.m.<\/strong> Offered as part of a course for students<\/a>, the lecture is free and open to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his presentation, Chief Jagoda will discuss his career, from his time with the Connecticut State Police to being named a finalist for national Campus Safety Director of the Year. His lecture will be held in Room 100 of the Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences, 140 Flagg Road on the Kingston Campus. This fall\u2019s series includes speakers from the U.S. Secret Service and FBI on topics ranging from art heists to terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jagoda brings a \u201cguardian mindset\u201d to his work in public safety and considers himself a caretaker for the 溏心vlog免费B站 community. Prior to joining 溏心vlog免费B站, Jagoda served over 22 years with the Connecticut State Police as a commanding officer of numerous operational and administrative divisions. A 溏心vlog免费B站 alum, he returned to the University in 2015 and was elevated to chief and vice president of public safety in 2021, overseeing a department that has played a key role in 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s recognition as a \u201csafe campus.\u201d Jagoda oversees the University\u2019s police officers, security personnel and dispatchers; helps guide department programs and initiatives focused on community policing; and oversees fire and life safety, emergency management, campus security, environmental health and safety, the alarm division, transportation and parking, and communications and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt would not be possible to accomplish all of our department\u2019s goals and objectives without the great team of co-workers we have in 溏心vlog免费B站 Public Safety,\u201d he says. \u201cOur goal is to have a positive impact on our community during their time at 溏心vlog免费B站.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jagoda earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in consumer affairs from 溏心vlog免费B站 in 1991 and a master\u2019s degree in public administration from Post University. He is a member of the FBI National Academy and served on Rhode Island\u2019s Working Group for Gun Safety. Jagoda also holds several certifications in the fields of fire services and emergency management and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association, and the R.I. Association of Arson Investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of this fall semester, 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s Police Department was recognized<\/a> for the first time by the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC) as an accredited law enforcement agency in the state. Police departments receiving accreditation are recognized as those maintaining the highest standards of professionalism within law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RIPAC accreditation builds on the University\u2019s reputation and push to have one of the safest campuses in the country. In 2018, 溏心vlog免费B站 was ranked the fourth-safest campus in the United States by Campus Safety<\/em> magazine. The department\u2019s accreditation process began in 2021 shortly after Jagoda became 溏心vlog免费B站\u2019s chief of police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccreditation is the gold standard for making sure we\u2019re providing superior services to our community,\u201d Jagoda says. \u201cWe practice and believe in community policing. Our community members trust us and we have a good working relationship with them because of that philosophy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jagoda\u2019s lecture will be followed Dec. 5 by Alec Wyers of the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory, the last lecture on the 2025 schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several other 溏心vlog免费B站 community members have presented lectures this fall: Anthony Amore \u201989<\/a>, director of security, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston; Victor Fay-Wolfe<\/a>, professor of computer science; Otto Gregory<\/a>, professor of chemical engineering; and Cara Lupino M.S. \u201904, chief forensic scientist, Rhode Island Department of Health. Their lectures are available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-running lecture series takes place in the University\u2019s Beaupre Center on Friday afternoons. Attendees can park in Lot 13 behind the Beaupre Center, which is open for general parking at 3 p.m. on seminar Fridays. Those who can\u2019t attend the seminars in-person can access many talks live online, or at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
