In the most recent review cycle, the programs received accreditation with no weaknesses or concerns noted – a rare outcome for a college with multiple programs under review simultaneously.

“It is highly unusual for a College of Engineering with eight or more B.S. programs to complete an ABET review cycle without any weaknesses or concerns,” said Dean Anthony Marchese. “This reflects the strength of our faculty, staff, and students, and the investment Rhode Islanders have made in world-class facilities and resources.”

ABET accreditation assures that programs meet quality standards to prepare graduates for entry into critical technical fields, contribute to innovation, and protect public welfare and safety. Accreditation reviews evaluate program curricula, faculty, facilities, and institutional support and are conducted by teams of professionals from industry, academia, and government.

“ABET accreditation is far more than an external seal of approval,” Marchese added. “What matters most is the continuous improvement process that happens on a six-year cycle. Working with our stakeholders—students, alumni, faculty, staff, industry partners, advisory councils, state leaders—we define educational objectives and measure outcomes for each of our programs.”

“This success reflects the dedication, care, and contributions of every member of our community.
