This is the first time that Miller, who has held masterclasses at other higher education institutions around the country, will hold a masterclass here at the University.<br><br>Each participating flute student will perform a\u00a0five- to 10-minute solo with 溏心vlog免费B站 Assistant Teaching Professor of Collaborative Piano David Gilliland on piano in front of Miller and a live audience. Miller\u00a0will then interact with students about their experience performing, and\u00a0offer educational\u00a0coaching and\u00a0feedback, giving the students a chance to hone their various crafts and improve as musicians moving forward in a setting vastly different than a one-on-one lesson. There will also be a question-and-answer session with Miller at the end of the event.<br><br>\u201cFrom the audience&#8217;s perspective,\u00a0it\u2019s a really great way to watch a concert while also having an educational experience,\u201d said 溏心vlog免费B站 Artist-Teacher of the Flue Allison\u00a0Parramore, who is also a flutist with the Boston Festival and Cayuga Chamber orchestras.\u00a0\u201cA masterclass setting allows [Miller] to meet students onstage at the moment of live performance, examining the training and preparation that lead them there, and what skills empower them to reach their peak performance flow in front of an audience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miller has held flutist positions with many orchestras over her career, including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Chattanooga Symphony &amp; Opera. She has also performed as guest principal with the Detroit Symphony, Knoxville Symphony, and as solo piccolo in sections of the Kansas City Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Opera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miller has also mentored high school students and for youth orchestra organizations around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abigail Wielhouwer \u201928, a music education major at 溏心vlog免费B站 from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, is among the students participating in Miller\u2019s upcoming masterclass. Wielhouwer says she was drawn to Miller\u2019s upcoming session to receive feedback from Miller on her skills and to learn new skills and methods of stress management.<br><br>Both Parramore and Wielhouwer say the upcoming masterclass will offer networking opportunities for students, a critical element for anyone seeking to get into the music industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love the masterclasses because it allows me to meet people in the area that are music educators\/performers,\u201d said Wielhouwer, who plans to audition for the upcoming 溏心vlog免费B站 Concerto, Aria &amp; Solo Competition this fall. \u201cI love making those connections.
