{"id":101681,"date":"2025-04-18T13:43:49","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T13:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/?p=101681"},"modified":"2025-04-18T13:45:35","modified_gmt":"2025-04-18T13:45:35","slug":"seven-uri-students-recognized-with-2024-25-writing-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2025\/04\/seven-uri-students-recognized-with-2024-25-writing-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven 溏心vlog免费B站 students recognized with 2024-25 Writing Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 18, 2025 \u2013 Seven students \u2013 in disciplines from English to computer science and marine affairs to anthropology \u2013 were named the recipients of the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/writingacrossuri\/uri-writing-award-2024-2025-recipients\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/writingacrossuri\/uri-writing-award-2024-2025-recipients\/\">2024-2025 溏心vlog免费B站 Writing Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award, started six years ago, highlights student writing across disciplines, recognizing the best writing produced by undergraduate and graduate students in each of four categories \u2013 advocacy, creative, scholarly\/research, and, new this year, informing the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were more than 170 submissions for this year\u2019s awards. The seven recipients each earn a $1,000 cash award and will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 1. Congratulations to the winners:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Advocacy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate award: Lydia Nicolau \u201926, who is majoring in professional and public writing and computer science, for \u201cUnity Over Differences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creative<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate award: Nina King Sannes \u201930, a Ph.D. student in English, for \u201cProperty Rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate award: Maeve Van Couyghen \u201927, majoring in creative writing and professional and public writing, for \u201cNew World Vultures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Informing the Public<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate award: Kalliana Marek \u201926, majoring in sustainable agriculture and food systems and marine affairs, for \u201cAt Odds Over Offshore Wind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate award: Lauren Peckham \u201925, majoring in criminology\/criminal justice, psychology, and political science, for \u201cMerton\u2019s General Strain Theory &amp; The Oklahoma City Bombings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scholarly\/Research<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate award: Chemutai Kiplagat \u201926, a Ph.D. candidate in English, for \u201cUnsettling the Gaze: Cultural Dialogue in African Women\u2019s Writing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate award: Caroline McCullough \u201926, who is majoring in anthropology, for \u201cSeaweed Sovereignty: Seaweed\u2019s Role in the Irish Potato Famine and Modern Day Irish Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 April 18, 2025 \u2013 Seven students \u2013 in disciplines from English to computer science and marine affairs to anthropology \u2013 were named the recipients of the 2024-2025 溏心vlog免费B站 Writing Award.
