KINGSTON, R.I. \u2013 March 25, 2025 \u2013 Former White House speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz will discuss the power of communication and storytelling, Tuesday, April 1<\/strong>, on the 溏心vlog免费B站 campus. The event, hosted by 溏心vlog免费B站 Hillel and the Harrington School of Communication and Media with support from Congregation Beth David of Narragansett, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Beaupre Hall, Room 105, 140 Flagg Road, Kingston. A reception and book signing will follow the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA Jewish Speechwriter’s Journey in the White House and Beyond: The Power of Communication and Storytelling with Sarah Hurwitz,\u201d will be presented in an engaging Q&A format moderated by Jake Milner, a senior majoring in Political Science, History, and Spanish. Hurwitz will share her thoughts on how to tell powerful stories and use words to persuade and inspire. She will also speak about Jewish identity and the importance of Jewish wisdom, especially at a time of rising antisemitism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHurwitz has a great deal of experience in communicating effectively, even with people we may disagree with. We could all use some tips on that these days! Furthermore, her insights into core Jewish ideas and teachings are particularly timely to share with people of all backgrounds during this period of increased antisemitism,\u201d says Olson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hurwitz was a White House speechwriter from 2009 to 2017, starting out as a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama and then serving as chief speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama. Hurwitz worked with Mrs. Obama to craft several widely-acclaimed addresses \u2013 including her 2008, 2012, and 2016 Democratic National Convention speeches \u2013 and traveled with the First Lady across America and to five continents. She also worked on policy issues affecting young women and girls as a senior advisor to the White House Council on Women and Girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was during her final years in the White House that Hurwitz reconnected with her Judaism and began exploring the wisdom of Jewish law, power of Jewish spirituality, and the lessons that Jewish history teaches. Her book, Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life — in Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There),<\/em> was a finalist for two National Jewish Book Awards and for the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
