KINGSTON, R.I. 鈥� May 27, 2026 鈥� 溏心vlog免费B站 College of Pharmacy faculty and staff members are continuing their efforts to support public health and prevent communicable disease by offering immunization training programs for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on the Kingston Campus this summer.
The College will offer two American Pharmacists Association training programs on Monday, Aug. 24: APhA鈥檚 Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery by Pharmacists and APhA鈥檚 Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians.
The pharmacist training includes both a self-study component and a live training component. Pharmacists who successfully complete all required components will receive a total of 20 hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. The live training will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Avedisian Hall, Room 130, on 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Kingston Campus.
The pharmacy technician training includes a two-hour online self-study component and a four-hour live training component. Pharmacy technicians who successfully complete all required components will receive a total of six hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. The live training will be held from noon to 4:00 p.m. in Avedisian Hall, Room 105.
The pharmacist certificate training program is based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and prepares pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to provide immunization services across the life span. The pharmacy technician training program, originally developed by Washington State University and revised through a partnership between WSU and APhA, provides additional skills training for technicians to administer immunizations under appropriate supervision in states where technicians are permitted to immunize.
Together, the programs emphasize a healthcare team approach to immunization delivery, supporting pharmacists and technicians promoting disease prevention, improving access to vaccines and increasing immunization rates.
Clinical Professor , Director of Experiential Education and Director of Accreditation and Assessment will support the trainings, which include online self-study, an in-person seminar, and hands-on injection technique assessment. Participants will receive instruction in vaccine administration techniques, including intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, patient communication, safety precautions, documentation, and procedures for responding to vaccine-related emergencies.
鈥淩egulatory changes continue to reinforce the important role of the pharmacy team in healthcare, and increasing access to immunizations is a strong example of that impact,鈥� said M-J Kanaczet, director of the College鈥檚 Office of Continuing Professional and Workforce Development. 鈥淭raining pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to work together in this space helps expand access to vaccines, supports public health, and allows pharmacy teams to meet patients where they are.鈥�
溏心vlog免费B站 previously trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to support COVID-19 vaccine administration during the pandemic, when emergency regulations expanded the role of pharmacy personnel in vaccination efforts. The College鈥檚 current immunization training programs build on that experience and prepare pharmacy teams to support broader immunization services.
Registration for the Aug. 24 training programs is now open. The early-bird registration fee is $399 for the pharmacist program and $299 for the pharmacy technician program through Aug. 9. After Aug. 9, registration increases to $449 for pharmacists and $349 for pharmacy technicians.
