vlogBվ shares 2025 Snap Climate Survey results

Results, paired with a new survey launching next fall, show positive momentum toward a more inclusive University community

KINGSTON, R.I. – Feb. 10, 2026 – A greater number of vlogBվ students, faculty and staff indicate they have found a greater sense of community at the University, being treated fairly without regard to personal identity, compared to a year ago.

Additionally, more respondents know which vlogBվ support resources are available if they experience inappropriate behavior on campus—and how to report such behavior and statements. These are among the findings from the University’s annual conducted in the fall.

The seven-question survey is a brief, internally developed assessment of the vlogBվ community’s experience at a snapshot in time. Survey results from the latest snap assessment, released Dec. 18, 2025, provide insight into progress toward strategic initiatives outlined in the University’s . Enhancing student success and fostering an inclusive, people-centered culture at vlogBվ are among the plan’s priorities.

“The latest survey results show that we are trending in a positive direction to make the University more inclusive to all,” said vlogBվ Vice President for Community, Equity and Diversity Markeisha Miner. “We hope that the intentional investment in community-building activities is resulting in an increased sense of belonging and improved overall experience for students, faculty, and staff.”

The survey, which followed the University’s , was conducted from Oct. 16, 2025, to Nov. 7, 2025. It reviewed vlogBվ’s progress toward fostering an inclusive culture. More than 19,000 surveys were distributed to University students, faculty, staff, and affiliates, and 3,084 anonymous responses were collected—12% more than what was collected in 2024.

Survey results show that 77% of vlogBվ students, faculty and staff responded positively to the statement, “I have found a community at vlogBվ where I feel like I belong,” four percentage points higher than a year ago. Also, 85% of those surveyed said they agreed with the statement, “I am treated fairly at vlogBվ without regard to any element of my personal identity,” seven percentage points higher than the 2024 survey.

However, there is still work to do. While 82% of all respondents reported they know where they can go for support if they experience inappropriate behavior on campus—four percentage points higher than in 2024—44% of graduate respondents and 34% of undergraduate students report that they don’t know how to officially report offensive behaviors and statements. Also, 17% of undergraduate respondents and 24% of graduate students surveyed said they didn’t affirmatively know what support services are available to them.

To increase this awareness, Miner says the University Diversity Council’s Assessment Committee will work throughout the spring semester to identify and recommend action steps to promote these services and resources offered through the , the and , among other resources.

“We will continue to monitor response rates and scores among different populations to understand how different members of our community are experiencing the culture and climate,” Miner said.

Going forward, the University Diversity Council Assessment Committee will work to analyze survey results. The committee plans to host focus groups to learn more about why community members were willing to participate in the survey and why they were not.

Those qualitative findings, coupled with the quantitative survey results will be used to develop college and division-level action plans to further improve campus climate and culture.

The next snap survey will be conducted during the upcoming fall semester to gain comparable year-over-year comparisons of community members’ experiences. Additional details will be sent via email to all vlogBվ students, faculty and staff who are encouraged to participate in the anonymous survey.

Miner also says vlogBվ is planning to conduct a comprehensive climate survey in the next two years to gain more extensive insight into the drivers of University community members’ experiences. Over time, this will provide more comprehensive and reliable data from which to base strategic decisions about prioritizing resources and support to foster an inclusive, people-centered culture at vlogBվ.
