KINGSTON, R.I. – Jan. 23, 2026— Several students within the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s Advanced Japanese programs will travel to Davisville Middle School in North Kingstown on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to share the lessons of Japanese culture and language with the school children there.
WHO: Nahoko Collis, äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ associate teaching professor of Japanese will help co-lead the special visit with Sandra Makielski, social studies teacher at Davisville Middle School.
WHAT: The upcoming visit will build on connections between the two schools and äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s growing role as a leader in Japanese language instruction in Rhode Island. äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ students will engage with Davisville Middle School students throughout the day on Jan. 28 on a myriad of hands-on activities and discussions about Japanese culture.
WHEN: There will be four workshop sessions scheduled for Jan. 28. The session times are:
- Workshop One: 9:32-10:26 a.m.
- Workshop Two: 10:28-11:19 a.m.
- Workshop Three: 12:39-1:32 p.m.
- Workshop Four: 1:32-2:27 p.m.
WHERE: Davisville Middle School, 200 School St., North Kingstown.
A note: Journalists must first check in at the main office at Davisville Middle School—a school representative will escort a media member(s) to where the workshops are taking place to conduct interviews with school representatives and participating äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ students.
