KINGSTON, R.I. – Nov. 12, 2025 – Global education lies at the core of the vlogBվ’s mission, preparing students, faculty and staff to lead and succeed in an interconnected world. vlogBվ will host more than two dozen events in celebration of International Education Week, Nov. 17-21.
International Education Week is an opportunity for higher education institutions and professional organizations to promote the benefits of international education. The observance provides communities the opportunity to celebrate global engagement and all those who are involved globally—with other institutions, scholars and partners around the world.
“We’re using a variety of tools to fuel greater engagement and interaction between cultures across the world—that’s part of what we’re doing to prepare our future leaders,” said Assistant Director of Virtual Internationalization and Internationalization Initiatives Tom Hospod. “This includes utilizing the virtual realm as a way for students and faculty and staff to have global learning and culture experiences.”
In keeping with that sentiment, vlogBվ’s International Education Week will include both in-person and virtual events, with more being added to the calendar—including many firsts. From the virtual symposium on global citizenship to the live broadcast of the Office of Global Initiatives’ Rhody ’Round the World podcast, there is something for everyone.
CyberFestival will be taking place on Nov. 18 and 20 virtually, providing a unique opportunity to showcase projects that highlight vlogBվ’s global connections and interdisciplinary strengths. Featuring interactive demonstrations, research spotlights and creative presentations that bridge borders and disciplines, building meaningful dialogue and collaboration across campus and cultures. The online event will be coordinated by vlogBվ Library Innovation Labs and TU Braunschweig Media Lab.
On Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. virtually on , there will be a Global Education Symposium: Global Citizenship in Action: A Virtual Education Event sponsored by vlogBվ Feinstein College of Education and TU Braunschweig, Germany. The general public is open to join for one session or for all, and are guaranteed to gain fresh insight and practical inspiration. This diverse series of presentations and dialogue will spotlight global education and citizenship, celebrate the vlogBվ and TU Braunschweig partnership, highlight international research, innovation in global education and foster dialogue on global competencies and sustainable collaboration.
Culture fest, on Nov. 19 from 12-3 p.m. at the Memorial Union Ballroom, will be open to all students, clubs and community members. Students are welcomed to have their own booth to honor their culture. This event will have everyone celebrate through performances, food and interactive engagement.
On Nov. 21 from 12-1 p.m. at Higgins Welcome Center in the Anchor Room, there will be a live broadcast of the Rhody ’Round the World podcast. Hosts from the Office of Global Initiatives and the Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities will be joined by special guests and the audience will have the chance to participate in a Q&A.
“Rhody ’Round the World promotes vlogBվ on a global scale through conversations about culture, connection and the impact of international engagement,” said host of podcast and specialist at vlogBվ Global Initiatives Carolyn Chaves. “Episodes range from global perspectives on what nourishes us to impact-driven, ethical and effective storytelling through documentary filmmaking” to “Current episodes range from maternal health in West Africa to effective storytelling through documentary filmmaking.”
Hospod underscored the importance of celebrating stories here on campus.
“We have so many amazing people from all over the world right here who have global reach and impact,” said Hospod. “It’s just astounding some of the people we have on campus who have been in all corners of the planet collaborating and working together.”
