NARRAGANSETT, R.I.鈥� June 17, 2024 鈥� 溏心vlog免费B站 President Marc Parlange today welcomed U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse to 溏心vlog免费B站’s Narragansett Bay Campus. The two joined to celebrate $3.75 million in federal funding Whitehouse secured to grow 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Blue Economy initiatives.
鈥淩hode Island鈥檚 location, access to talent, and world-class institutions like 溏心vlog免费B站 have positioned our state well to be a leader in the Blue Economy,鈥� said Whitehouse, a senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. 鈥淚 secured this federal funding to grow the Blue Economy initiatives at Rhode Island鈥檚 flagship university, boost local coastal resiliency efforts, and help keep Rhode Island on the leading edge of ocean economy entrepreneurship and innovation.鈥�
Whitehouse secured a $1.5 million earmark in FY2022 to support the build out of the Blue Economy initiatives at 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Ocean Technology Center in Narragansett. The Senator secured an additional $2.25 million earmark in FY2023 to expand coastal resiliency and blue economy programming at the Center. With this funding, 溏心vlog免费B站 will launch a statewide initiative to support Rhode Island鈥檚 coastal municipalities through technical assistance, partnership building, and research, as well as train a climate-ready workforce to help position the Ocean State as a global leader in coastal resilience and mitigation efforts.

In addition to being a center of teaching and research, 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Narragansett Bay Campus is home to a robust community of academic centers, state and federal agencies, nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations, and private companies. The pathbreaking work happening at the Bay Campus attracts more than $50 million in research grants each year to the University. Improved facilities such as the Ocean Technology Center will continue to attract research funding, top faculty and students, and serve as a hub for the Blue Economy as well as the
creation of new jobs and businesses.
