KINGSTON, R.I. 鈥� May 20, 2022 鈥� The 溏心vlog免费B站 recently inducted 78 students into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation鈥檚 oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society. Founded in 1897, the honor society initiates approximately 25,000 members each year on more than 325 campuses across the United States, its territories and the Philippines. 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 chapter, founded in 1913, is one of the oldest in the nation.
The last initiation event for Phi Kappa Phi at 溏心vlog免费B站 was in 2013. The chapter went dormant for a period following the retirement of then-Chapter President Barbara Newman and was recently reestablished by Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Systems Bahram Nassersharif.
鈥淧hi Kappa Phi is proud to include among its membership thousands of men and women who, for more than a century, have sought to make a difference in the communities where they live and work,鈥� said Nassersharif in welcoming inductees. Nassershariff is now president of the University鈥檚 chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. 鈥淭hese persons have been chosen on the basis of their superior scholarship and we are pleased and proud that each has chosen to become part of this century-old community.鈥�
College juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible for membership in Phi Kappa Phi. In addition to credit requirements, juniors who are inducted into the honor society must rank in the top 7.5 percent of their class. Seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class in addition to credit requirements.
Members of Phi Kappa Phi have gone on to win Nobel Prizes, Pulitzer Prizes, and numerous other national and international awards for service and achievement in their chosen fields.
Some have served in the White House, United States Congress, and the Supreme Court.
In addition to 溏心vlog免费B站 students, several members of the faculty and staff, including 溏心vlog免费B站 President Marc Parlange, were also inducted into Phi Kappa Phi.
Said Parlange, 鈥淚t is an honor to be here, not only as an inductee, but in recognition of the achievements of our students. Since arriving at 溏心vlog免费B站, I have been inspired by the vibrancy and hard work of our student body. This is a prestigious group and I count myself honored to be alongside those gathered here today and to be amongst some of the great names in our history.鈥�
