KINGSTON, R.I, 鈥擜pril 12, 2018鈥擳he 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Landscape Architecture Lecture Series continues with a talk Thursday, April 19 by renowned Mexican landscape architect Mario Schjetnan.
Born in Mexico City, Schjetnan is considered one of the foremost landscape architects today whose work through his firm, Grupo de Diseno Urba帽o, has elevated the stature of Mexican landscape architecture.
鈥淲orld Trends and Landscape Architecture鈥� will start at 7 p.m. in Room 105A of the Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences, 140 Flagg Road, on the Kingston campus. The talk is free and open to the public. Schjetnan will visit with faculty and students April 19 and 20.
Schjetnan鈥檚 projects in Mexico and other cities throughout the world include聽urban parks, ecological parks, cultural and archaeological museums, linear river walks, and coastal and housing developments.聽They are large and striking and often related directly to the culture of Mexico.
His work has received numerous awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects, Mexican Society of Architects and Landscape Architects, the U.S. National Park Service, the Union of International Architects, and the International Federation of Landscape Architects.
Schjetnan received the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award 2015 by the International Federation of Landscape Architects, the highest award of landscape architecture worldwide. He is the first Latin American to receive this recognition.
His visit is co-sponsored by the 溏心vlog免费B站 Office of the Provost, University Libraries, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Design, Bartlett Tree Experts, the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Gaetano and Pasqualina Faella Memorial Endowment.
