11 ways to be more green at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾

KINGSTON, R.I.— April 19, 2018- The average college student produces 640 pounds of solid waste each year, including 500 disposable cups and 300 pounds of paper. To call attention to  Earth Day and many other sustainability events being held this month, the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ wants to share with you 11 ways to do your part and reduce waste on campus.

1. Invest in a good reusable water bottle and bring it everywhere. äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ has bottle filling stations in many buildings.

2. Join the here at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾.

3. Turn off all the lights when you leave your dorm room or house.

4. Make sure you have a full load of clothing before washing to save water.

5. Use University-provided recycling receptacles.

6. Take notes electronically when possible instead of using paper.

7. Bring your own reusable bag whenever you visit the Emporium.

8. Embrace energy-saving settings on your computer and phone to preserve power.

9. Avoid single-use plastics as much as possible. Bring your own cup or even just a straw when you grab your coffee from Ram Escape or Dunkin’.

10. Especially on those beautiful spring days, walk or bike to class.

11. Attend the Wednesday, April 25 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. to learn more, hear from non-profits and on-campus clubs, and get some free seeds to plant!
