KINGSTON, R.I.鈥擣eb. 6, 2018鈥擣lags for peace will soon rise at the 溏心vlog免费B站.
Students and the public are invited to participate in the 鈥淧eace Flag Project鈥� Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the Multicultural Student Services Center, 74 Lower College Road, on the Kingston campus.
Sponsored by 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies, the event, free and open to the public, is being held to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Week.
Participants can decorate their flags from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cathren Housley, a local artist, will sew the flags together to create a large peace flag in a design called, 鈥淯nited American Peace Flag.鈥�
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, a sponsor of the event, will host an exhibit of the flag at the Atrium Gallery, One Capitol Hill, Providence.
鈥淐reating a peace flag shows that despite our differences we can come together to create something beautiful,鈥� said Paul Bueno de Mesquita, director of the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies.
The Peace Flag Project works to make the world more peaceful. Schools, churches and other organizations collaborate with the group to create flags and spread global peace.
