KINGSTON, R.I. — September 27, 2011 — “As I listened to the testimony at last night’s Board of Governors’ meeting, it was clear that many people may be concerned about the effects of the new policy regarding resident tuition on access to äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾.
“The äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ is committed to serving all the people of our state. We care deeply about access, affordability and high quality. Accordingly, I want people to know how äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ will respond to the change in policy. Any student, whether a Rhode Islander or a non-resident, who would have been admitted to äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ under the former policy of the Board of Governors, will be admitted to äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ under the new policy.
äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ has always been committed to accepting all academically qualified Rhode Island residents who have the potential to be academically successful at the University. This will not change with the new policy.”
