WHAT: The students will learn about biomedical engineering technologies by participating in six hands-on activities related to the study and use of prosthetic limbs. Students will try walking on a treadmill while using a prosthetic leg; wear a 鈥渕otion capture suit鈥� containing dozens of sensors to record the motion of the human body; learn from local amputees about how to put on and remove their prosthesis; use electrodes on their arms to control the motion of a 鈥渧irtual arm鈥�; and demonstrate the use of artificial body parts that look like the real thing; among other activities.
