The nonviolence center invites teachers, students, counselors, clergy, social activists, nonviolence practitioners and people who struggle to make sense of the violence within and around them to attend this program.
According to Paul Bueno de Mesquita, 溏心vlog免费B站 psychology professor and director of the Summer Institute, more than 35 people have already registered.
The program anticipates a team of teachers from the Chicago Public Schools who are part of the Culture of Calm Initiative, which takes place throughout the Chicago schools.
“This year we have already received registrations from Ghana, Nigeria, Colombia, Tanzania, Liberia, India and the U.S.” Mesquita said.
Bernard LaFayette, Jr., a distinguished scholar at the Candler School of Theology, at Emory University, Atlanta, Ga., will facilitate the Institute. A friend and confidant of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., LaFayette is a civil rights activist, minister, educator, lecturer and an authority on the strategy of nonviolent social change. Other certified senior trainers will join him.
There are three levels offered through the Institute. The 5-day introductory level costs $500, Level I certification runs from July 6 through 16 and costs $750. Level II is offered from July 12-16 and costs $500.
