KINGSTON, R.I. – June 8, 2009 – Landscape professionals who work within coastal buffer zones are invited to enroll in the Invasive Plant Management Certification Program at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s Narragansett Bay Campus on July 7 and 8.

Sponsored by the Mallon Outreach Center at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ and the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, the workshop will include discussion of coastal plant communities, site assessment, invasive plant control measures, disposal and re-vegetation techniques, and CRMC buffer zone regulations.

Permits for invasive plant management in coastal buffer zones will only be granted by CRMC to professionals who hold the certification from this program.

Speakers at the program represent äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s Mallon Outreach Center, CRMC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and the Rhode Island Natural History Survey.
