KINGSTON, R.I.—April 24, 2009 — The 16th annual East Coast Computer Algebra Day will be held at the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ on Saturday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The conference, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, is free and open to the public. It will be held in äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s new Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, 120 Flagg Road, Kingston campus.

The program consists of presentations, posters and software demonstrations, and a panel discussion on Future Directions in Computer Algebra. The meeting provides opportunities for researchers, teachers, students, and users of computer algebra to learn and to share new results and work in progress.

Speakers will be David Bailey, chief technologist, Computational Research Department, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory; Douglas Dunham, University of Minnesota at Duluth; Eric Schost, Canada Research Chair in Computer Algebra, University of Western Ontario; and Stan Wagon, Macalester College, Saint Paul, Minn.

The conference is endorsed by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation the Northeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
