KINGSTON, R.I.鈥擜pril 15, 2009 — Jane Roberts, co-founder of the 34 Million Friends of UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) who raised more than $4 million dollars to promote the rights of women, is going to be at the 溏心vlog免费B站 next Thursday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. for a brown bag lunch. The program, free and open to the public, is sponsored by 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Department of Women’s Studies. The talk will be held in Galanti Lounge, 溏心vlog免费B站 Library, 3rd floor, 15 Lippitt Road, Kingston.
Roberts and Lois Abraham established 34 Million Friends of UNFPA in 2002 when the Bush Administration first announced it would withhold the $34 million that Congress allocated to the fund.
UNFPA helps the most vulnerable women in the world plan their families, give birth safely, and protect themselves from HIV/AIDS. It encourages equal access to food, education, and health care.
Roberts will speak about her fund-raising work, travels on behalf of UNFPA, and issues of population and the planet.
