KINGSTON, R.I. — February 6, 2006 — Visitors to the Dana Shugar Library Gallery at the University鈥檚 Women鈥檚 Center will find artwork by recent graduate Hollie Beliveau.
The Center, located on 22 Upper College Rd, will hold an opening reception featuring Beliveau鈥檚 art on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 4-6 p.m. Free and open to the public, the exhibit will run daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, March 17.
Entitled 鈥� Monotype Trio,鈥� the show features three monotypes created by Beliveau. According to Beliveau, a monotype is a type of printmaking where paint or ink is applied to an untouched surface and a single impression is then made from the surface.
鈥淔or these three particular prints, I applied oil paint to a 17×23-inch sheet of plexi-glass. Once I completed an image, I then printed it onto a sheet of white BFK Rives (specialty) paper,鈥� said Beliveau in her artist鈥檚 statement.
鈥淭he three prints are all abstract in theme. I focused primarily on color, shape, texture, depth and movement. I really wanted to accent the abstract shapes and create a sense of movement.鈥�
Beliveau, a local artist and resident of Wakefield, is a December 2005 graduate of the 溏心vlog免费B站. She received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in art with a concentration in art studio.
