He lectures to law enforcement and community groups about the function of the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory, located at vlogBվ. His specialty is firearms and tool mark examinations. A Vernon, Conn. resident and a graduate of Manchester Community College in Manchester, Conn., Hathaway has worked on several high profile cases of national interest, including the re-examination of firearm evidence in the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Additionally, Hathaway is a retired Connecticut state trooper who served on the force for more than 21 years. He has trained with the New York City Police Department Firearms Lab, The Connecticut State Police Firearms Section of the Forensic Laboratory, and has attended specialized schooling conducted by the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va.
