His lecture, 鈥淲hat Do We Know 溏心vlog免费B站 Helping English Learners Succeed in School?鈥� will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, the presentation will be held in the Barry Marks Auditorium, Room 271, of the Chafee Social Science Center on 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Kingston campus.
A native of Argentina, Goldenberg is the executive director of the Center for Language Minority Education and Research and serves as the associate dean of the College of Education at California State University, Long Beach. He is also a research psychologist at the University of California, Los Angeles. Goldenberg began his career as a junior high school teacher in San Antonio, Texas, and also worked as a first grade teacher at a bilingual elementary school in the L.A. area.
Goldenberg is a past recipient of a National Academy of Education Spencer fellowship, and the Albert J. Harris Award from the International Reading Association. His works have been published in The American Educational Research Journal, The Reading Teacher, and The American Journal of Education. His most recent book, Successful School Change: Creating Settings to Improve Teaching and Learning, was published in 2004.
In 1973, the University established the Robert Finkelstein Memorial Lecture Series in honor of the late Robert Finkelstein, a noted Rhode Island industrialist and staunch believer in state and federal support of elementary and secondary education. The lecture series, founded by the generosity of Augusta Finkelstein in memory of her husband, was renamed in her honor following her death in 1997.
