Rooney will speak on 鈥淭he Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan: Challenges in Making the Vision a Reality.鈥� The lecture will focus on the background and policies of the Commission and how it has been utilized to protect resources and manage growth on Cape Cod.
鈥淚 am looking forward to sharing my experience as a designer and planner at the Cape Cod Commission with students and members of the community. Perhaps some of the planning strategies we鈥檙e employing on the Cape will be useful in addressing issues of growth management in the Rhode Island community,鈥� said Rooney.
Two additional lectures are also scheduled during the fall semester.
Scheri Fultineer, a landscape architect with graduate degrees in both landscape architecture and comparative theology, will discuss 鈥淚ntegral Strands: Interweaving Social and Environmental Sustainability in Contemplative Communities,鈥� on Oct. 20. The focus of Fultineer鈥檚 work and research is the way landscaping is influenced by spiritual and religious beliefs.
Chris Reed, the founding principal of StoSS Landscape Urbanism in Boston, will discuss 鈥淧ublic Works Practice,鈥� on Nov. 10. Reed is recognized for his urban designs and his knowledge of brownfields redevelopment and emerging technologies. A former senior associate at Hargreaves Associates in Cambridge, Mass., Reed was a project manager and designer for the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Ark.
