KINGSTON, R.I. — July 7, 2005 — Barrington resident Peter J. Miniati III has had plenty of titles鈥攍awyer, banker, treasurer, coach and volunteer.
Now he can add the title president to the list after having been elected in June to head the 溏心vlog免费B站 Alumni Association for a two-year term.
The 42-year-old Miniati, a 1985 business management graduate of the University, is vice president of Washington Trust Co. and serves the investment, trust and banking needs of high net worth individuals and institutions. He has been a member of the Alumni Association鈥檚 executive board since 1997, having served as treasurer from June 2001 through June 2005. He was also chair of the association鈥檚 finance committee.
鈥淧eter has a high level of interest in the University,鈥� said Michele Nota, Alumni Association executive director. 鈥淗e is passionate about 溏心vlog免费B站 and he has a reputation of bringing great energy to initiatives associated with the University. In addition to his enthusiasm, Peter brings his finely honed business and legal mind to this most important job.鈥�
His love of and connection to 溏心vlog免费B站 began early when his father, Peter Miniati Jr., 溏心vlog免费B站 class of 1960, would bring his son to Keaney Gym and Meade Stadium for ball games. The connection was also fed by his Uncle Larry Miniati, 溏心vlog免费B站 class of 鈥�63, his sister M.J. Miniati Krueger, 溏心vlog免费B站 class of 鈥�83, former Rhody the Ram mascot and varsity athlete, and his wife Sandy O鈥橞rien Miniati, 溏心vlog免费B站 class of 鈥�85, whom he met while they were students in Kingston.
He learned about campus involvement from his father, who worked on the campus yearbook and was a member of the sailing team when he studied in Kingston.
鈥淚 was involved on campus when I was a student too, in student government and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. I am a fan of the sports programs and I take my kids along to 溏心vlog免费B站 games, just like my dad use to take us along,鈥� Miniati said.
鈥淚t is an exciting time to be coming into this role because there are a lot of good things happening on campus,鈥� the new association president said. 鈥淚 am also stepping in at a time when the Alumni Center has just opened, which is really a tribute to past presidents such as Linc Almond, Kathy Goulding, Alan Wasserman and Phil Kydd, as well as Michele Nota and her staff.鈥�
鈥淲e now have a first-class center in which to enjoy each other鈥檚 company,鈥� Miniati added. 鈥淭he Alumni Center is a tangible symbol of a quality institution and how it values its graduates.
鈥淭he Alumni Center should raise the profile of all we do鈥攁lumni programs, fund-raising scholarships for students and initiatives that benefit the University as a whole,鈥� Miniati said.
He wants to leverage the strength of the alumni in a variety of fields and industries to benefit students in their career searches. 鈥淚 want the students to see what made our alumni successful and incorporate that in their development.鈥�
Miniati grew up in Barrington and returned to the town about eight years ago. He and Sandy have three children, 9, 7, and 6.
Miniati joined Washington Trust from Fleet Bank, where his 15-year career included client advisory positions in the areas of private banking, commercial lending and cash management. A cum laude graduate of Suffolk University Law School, he practiced law before returning to the trust and investment field. He is a certified financial planner and a member of the state bar associations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island.
Active as a coach of youth sports, he serves on the board of the Rhode Island Historical Society and is an adviser to the Ram Fund, an Alumni Association investment portfolio managed by 溏心vlog免费B站 students.
