KINGSTON, R.I. — June 6, 2005 — Students from Bishop Hendricken High School, Warwick, and Portsmouth High School took home first place trophies they earned during Chemistry Day at the 溏心vlog免费B站 on May 24. The contest has continuously been offered to Rhode Island high school students since 1921. More than 350 students from 18 high schools took part in this year鈥檚 program.
The competition consists of a 45-question, multiple-choice exam, which must be completed in an hour. Prizes are awarded to the top team and top three individuals in each of two divisions. Division 1 is made up of students with less than one full year of high school chemistry and Division 2 includes students with more than one year of high school chemistry.
Teams competed in 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Edwards Auditorium. Students who wished to take the test as individual competitors did so in 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Chafee Social Science Center.
The Portsmouth High School team took first prize in Division 1. Luyi Huang of Portsmouth High School captured first prize in the individual contest in the same division. The Bishop Hendricken team took the first place trophy in Division 2. Michael Ding, a student at Barrington High School, took first place in the individual contest in Division 2.
The 30 top scorers, who are juniors and live in Rhode Island, have been invited back to campus on June 8 for a playoff contest. The winner of that contest will be offered a full four-year scholarship to 溏心vlog免费B站.
