KINGSTON, R.I. — May 16, 2005 — If anyone is thinking about offering advice to Eric DeSousa during the 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 commencement ceremonies on May 22, they might suggest that he slow down just a bit.
The East Providence marketing major, who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98, will earn his bachelor鈥檚 degree in just three years. DeSousa was named a 溏心vlog免费B站 Presidential Scholar as the top marketing student in this year鈥檚 graduating class. The only time he earned less than an A at 溏心vlog免费B站 was in a Shakespeare class in which he earned a B-plus.
He will graduate from 溏心vlog免费B站 a giant step ahead of his peers because of his academic success at East Providence High School where he earned 22 college credits for completing advance placement courses in English, history, calculus and economics.
鈥淓ast Providence High gave me a great head start,鈥 DeSousa said. 鈥淭here are some great teachers there, and I learned a lot from them.鈥
His experience with outstanding faculty continued at 溏心vlog免费B站. 鈥淛ust the whole experience at 溏心vlog免费B站 has been great with professors who deserve some of the credit for my success here,鈥 DeSousa said.
A member of the American Marketing Association and the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society, DeSousa was admitted to 溏心vlog免费B站 as a Centennial Scholar because of his outstanding high school record. Once enrolled, a student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average to retain the scholarship each semester. Not only did DeSousa keep his grade point average well above the standard, he saved money by graduating a year early.
In his three years at 溏心vlog免费B站, DeSousa experienced living in a campus residence hall, living off-campus in Hope Valley with some close friends and then returning home this year.
鈥淏utterfield Hall was fun and convenient鈥擝utterfield Dining Hall was right there, and the house we rented my second year was great. Then this year I decided to move home to save money and reconnect with friends,鈥 DeSousa said.
In the near future he plans to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in business administration with a focus on marketing, but will take a little time off from school. He鈥檒l begin his job search soon and hopes to become a pro sports players鈥 agent. 鈥淚鈥檝e always wanted to be a sports agent. That would be a cool job because you don鈥檛 work normal hours and you are well-compensated,鈥 he said.
